You are going to see a different Chiefs next season ex-captain

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Willard Katsande is hopeful that the club’s pre-season training in Europe is setting the team nicely for next season.

Amakhosi are currently in Turkey for their pre-season training and are expected to play several top teams. The team recently announced their new coach Nasreddine Nabi, who joined them last week. Chiefs finished a disappointing 10th last season and will be banking on Nabi to change their fortunes.

Katsande is confident that the Tunisian mentor can turn Kaizer Chiefs’ fortunes next season.

“It’s a good decision for the club to take the boys overseas because they need a bit of fresh air. They won’t wake up and go around South Africa and hear the same stories,” he said as per The Citizen.

“So when they are that side, they will sharpen their swords by staying together and building team cohesion and team spirit. They will see the game differently when they come back.

“I think you are going to see a different Kaizer Chiefs this season with the same players that were there last season but the mentality is going to change,” Katsande added.

“That is because of the environment they find themselves in at the moment. They will be thinking about how they can better their performance and be better for the club and hit the ground running.”

With a new season just a month away, Kaizer Chiefs are yet to announce big signings. Despite bringing in Nabi and his technical team, the Soweto giants have been relatively quiet in the transfer market. Chiefs have not won a trophy in more than nine years and Katsande was part of the team that won the league in 2015.
